Who is Working on the REEL Study?

The Policy & Research Group is testing different approaches to help teens and young adults make healthy choices. 

The national online study is funded by the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services.

Participants will complete online activities and four questionnaires.
All participants will be paid for their time.

Hi, I’m Adela. I’m a research analyst at PRG. I’m excited to work with teens and learn about their experiences. Outside of work, I love to go camping, ride my bike, and spend time with friends outside. I look forward to meeting you!

Hi, my name is Tina Sykes, and I am a study coordinator with PRG. I am super excited to learn from teens that are willing to help other individuals within their age group. Outside of being a study coordinator, my life is my children and family. I also love to craft because it is the best way to turn someone's vision into a reality.  I am ecstatic to meet you and to be working on the REEL Study!

Shannielle Taylor, BS

Hi, I'm Shannielle. I'm a study coordinator at PRG, and I'm passionate about helping youth become their best selves. In my free time I like to play video games, go camping with my friends, and cook new foods. I'm excited to meet you!

What is the REEL Study?

  • REEL = Research on Entertainment Education Learning
  • REEL is a national online study led by The Policy & Research Group (PRG) and funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Population Affairs
  • About 1,500 youth ages 14 to 22 will participate

Why participate?

  • Receive up to $225 in gift cards
  • Participate from anywhere with flexible scheduling and virtual activities
  • Be empowered to make healthy decisions
  • Help improve health programs for teens

Who is eligible?

Potential participants…

  • Are 14 to 22 years old
  • Speak English fluently
  • Own or have access to a device with internet

Note: Eligibility for the study can only be confirmed after answering a few questions and completing a virtual meeting with program staff

What is involved?

  • Complete the short online screening form by clicking here
  • Enroll with study staff by phone or video chat (once enrolled, participation will last about 11 months)
  • Participate in an online health program
  • Complete 4 online questionnaires and 2 contact information forms
  • Get up to $225 in gift cards for completing all study activities

Is there anything else to know?

  • All information that is gathered during this study will remain private and confidential and will be carefully guarded by study staff
  • When questionnaires are submitted, responses will be sent electronically directly to PRG, and names will not be included
  • Any contact information provided will be seen only by study staff and will not be shared
  • There are no physical risks from completing questionnaires and any questions may be skipped if they are uncomfortable
  • Being in this study may help to understand certain health risks

Teens and young adults who decide to participate in the study will be in touch with someone from our study team – Adela, Tina, or Shannielle.
